Role Models #5: Mohammad Ali Clay

Who is your role model?

Mohammad Ali Clay

Where was he born?

He was born 1942 17th January, in America, and named Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. He lived in Louisville, Kentucky and he died on 3rd June 2016. He was 74. He was born into an American family but converted to Islam in 1964 and changed his name to Mohammad Ali.

Why is he your role model?

Clay won the World Heavyweight Championship three times within 20 years, in 1964, 1974 and 1978. In 1999 he was awarded Sports Personality of the Century. He’s the individual with the strongest and fastest punch in the world. His punch is 7,000 pounds. I love him because he had a challenging childhood but changed his life from bad to good. I love his great power. I love his life because of his successes and because he earned so many fans. He has a lovely personality and a great demeanour. He helped so many people in his life and he had fans from all over the world.

If you met him, what would you say?

I wish I could have met him before death stole him away, and if I had, I would have asked him to tell me the secret to his success. I would have told him I loved him with the love of three hearts.
