No more Youth |

by Hamza O.

“I wish I could be young again.”

We are the only ones who will ever utter those words (“I wish I could be young again.”) Since we were driven out of our homes. Our dreams fell like the leaves of trees in Autumn. We became like wintered trees, naked of our leaves. We are vagrants, dispersed like corn kernels everywhere. Like the corn is our future, too, but shattered like glass too hard to mend. Our minds are muddled and our hopes are blown with the wind to unknown places. It’s so hard for us to accept the bitter truth and the reality. We do not find much humanity, but we do in a few and they are here, standing with us. We are grateful to those who do.
