A Refugee Story

by Muhammed Omari

My name is a refugee and I am here to see the things we share all of you and me

I come from Syria and Palestine my idol isn’t bin Laden but Albert Einstein

Like each one of you I went to school cried on the first day and the rest was cool

When I grew up sometimes I was dumb but I had my first love not my first bomb

Life suddenly changed and the war begun I had no shelter neither a gun

Some of us escaped more remain dead but the truth is not what they said

Our home was a cemetery or so it seems if they don’t kill you they bury your dreams

But I am mighty the world is mine and once again my sun will shine

I came through borders shores and seas with a thought in my mind would I find peace
